Servicing my motorbike.

Today I learnt how to service my motorbike ( change the oil ).  I thought this was really challenging and I definitely think I need a bit more practice. Step number one was warming up my bike. It's best to warm up the bike so everything in the oil is mixed together and the oil will flow better when you're draining it. Next, I had to remove my foot brake lever because it was in the way of the plug that I had to get to so I could drain the oil. After that, you had to remove the skid plate on the bottom of your bike because when the oil starts to pour out it will get into your skid plate which will cause a humongous mess. Once I had removed the skid plate I pulled out this thing called a drain plug which is where all the oil comes out of when you're draining your bike. Oil started to pour out and into a container which was right under where everything was leaking oil out of. Now comes the easier parts of draining all the oil out. Once all the oil was now out of the bike and in the container I cleaned the drain plug and placed it back where it was meant to go. After I finished that I had a look in my bike manual for how much oil I needed to put in my bike ( 500 ml ). When I had figured out the right amount of oil I got a measuring cup and measured how much I needed.  For the next step, I needed a funnel and a rag I had to clean around the filler plug which is where you tip the oil into. Next, I slowly poured in all the oil into the filler plug.  Now for the final part, all you have to do is reassemble the bike parts together. I hope in the future I can get better and I thought that this was really fun.

  1. Do you have any idea how much I have just learnt from reading this??? SO MUCH! I know nothing about engines of any kind and this was really cool. What I think is really awesome is that you are being shown how to take care of your bike which will help keep it in good condition.
