Catapult making

Whetu Catapult Challenge

The things that I used to make my catapult were: five rubber bands to stablise everything, seven popsicle sticks for foundation, a plastic spoon for the pompom holder and a pompom to shoot out of our catapult.

To make my catapult I worked with Lola because I know I can work really well with her and we get along nicely and both have great ideas.

The most challenging part was... getting everything to stay with the rubber bands because they were very fiddly and I don't have much experience with them.

Our best results were about a meter which we didn't exactly hope we would get but that's okay because we can always try again.

Overall I think that we could have done a bit better with our catapult and it's strength because we always broke the spoons or made the catapult worse then it was for some reason but I thought we had a great time making it!

My Emojis

For this post, I did the emoji blog challenge. I made all four seasons of emojis a Winter one, a Summer one, an Autumn one and spring one. My favourite would have to be the spring one because I think it's so colourful and its flowers took me forever but I think it really paid off. I think my emojis are a supernova because I tried my best to make them look better than a shooting star. I really enjoyed this task and would love to make several more emojis.

Predictor role

Since we came back to school after lockdown we had to pick a book that we wanted to read. I ended up picking the book The Bubble Boy. After we had started reading our books we had to make a prediction on what we thought was going to happen next in our books. I displayed my prediction on a Google  Drawing and  I think I did really well at it. I really enjoyed making my prediction and thinking of a way to display it.

Week 1 Reflection

Week 1 Reflection

What has been my highlight this week, my highlight fro this week has been getting to come back to school and see my friends after seven long weeks of not being in contact with them.

What was I nervous about this week, I was nervous about forgetting things like my computer because that's one of the things we need for everyday school.

For dress-up day I dressed up as a flower-themed girl because I thought it would be really simple and I had most of the supplies for my outfit. Plus my mum is really good at hair so she put fake flowers all through my hair to make my costume look amazing.

The funniest thing that has happened this week was when Marama's teacher Mr Kyle dressed up as a woman and it looked absolutely ridiculous!

I think the best-dressed person was Chloe because her outfit was always changing and I just thought that she really stood out the most out of everyone.

My offline Wednesday milk bottle creation

My Milk Bottle Creation

The milk bottle creation I made was a Baby Yoda from the series The Mandalorian.

The hardest part was decorating Baby Yoda's clothes that he wears because I painted it and it took forever to dry so it really distracted me away from everything else.

The easiest part was drawing his eyes because I practised it a lot the night before so I really mastered it in the end.

I enjoyed doing the finishing touches because it was really starting to come together and my hope was getting bigger and bigger as I looked at it more.

I really loved this weeks Offline Wednesday and I really hope we do something like this again.

My Fabulous Finish

For my term two Fabulous Finish I decided to do Descriptive passage. I chose this task because I haven't done it much in previous Fabulous Finishes so I thought I might as well.  I did a Descriptive Passage on Sheila because I think she is a really interesting character and I tried to make her sound as interesting as I could in my Chapter Challenge. I really liked this task and thought it was hard in lots of different ways like how I should present it but I also think I did really well at my Descriptive Passage. I think my work is a Supernova because I really tried my best to make something amazing and I think I succeeded.

Servicing my motorbike.

Today I learnt how to service my motorbike ( change the oil ).  I thought this was really challenging and I definitely think I need a bit more practice. Step number one was warming up my bike. It's best to warm up the bike so everything in the oil is mixed together and the oil will flow better when you're draining it. Next, I had to remove my foot brake lever because it was in the way of the plug that I had to get to so I could drain the oil. After that, you had to remove the skid plate on the bottom of your bike because when the oil starts to pour out it will get into your skid plate which will cause a humongous mess. Once I had removed the skid plate I pulled out this thing called a drain plug which is where all the oil comes out of when you're draining your bike. Oil started to pour out and into a container which was right under where everything was leaking oil out of. Now comes the easier parts of draining all the oil out. Once all the oil was now out of the bike and in the container I cleaned the drain plug and placed it back where it was meant to go. After I finished that I had a look in my bike manual for how much oil I needed to put in my bike ( 500 ml ). When I had figured out the right amount of oil I got a measuring cup and measured how much I needed.  For the next step, I needed a funnel and a rag I had to clean around the filler plug which is where you tip the oil into. Next, I slowly poured in all the oil into the filler plug.  Now for the final part, all you have to do is reassemble the bike parts together. I hope in the future I can get better and I thought that this was really fun.

My week 5 lockdown diary

For this post, I've decided to do the week 5 lockdown diary from the Winegums learning constellation doc. I thought this task was really fun because I really like writing and I got to do a lot of that. I think that I would love to do a lot more of this stuff over the time we are still in lockdown ( which hopefully won't be for long.) I can't wait to see what other learning pops up and I hope you like my lockdown diary.

Week 4 CC

For Chapter Challenge this week I did research on the author Judy Blume. This activity was really fun and challenging. The challenging part was finding out if your facts were right because sometimes websites could give you wrong information so I checked multiple. Did you know that Judy Blume got the idea of Fudge from her son when he was a toddler? He certainly must have been hard work? I would definitely love to do more tasks like this.
